This new short version of Quiz the Diz is Called “The Diz Daily”. There are items I see or verses from the Bible I read on which I want to comment. On the verses, I hope to tie them into a daily event; on the news stories I read, I will make an effort to comment from the perspective of the Kingdom of God. My desire is that these are a couple of minutes long, and help you get through your day, or if you listen in the evening, let you take a look at the day’s events from a different perspective.
What’s the good word? Encouragement. Courage is right there in the word and it’s what we all need when starting a new endeavor. That’s the topic of this week’s podcast.
There are four ways to handle disappointment:
It is the last one that makes you better and how to get past the first three and land on the beneficial fourth is what this episode is about.
Nay and I will be married 40 years on the 20th of July, and we learned long ago to speak blessings over each other every day. In the podcast this week, these are the items I shared:
Do you see a man who is skilled in his work? He will not stand before unknown men, but before Kings and Princes
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations. (From Bible Gateway)
When I am asked about my greatest day on the radio, this is the day: May 28, 1996. A tornado went through Bullitt County, Kentucky that day while I was on the air subbing for Terry Meiners. Ken Schultz and Tony Cruise are also on air that afternoon.
The next day, I was filling in again, and several people called to tell me that my work, along with my collegues, saved lives that day.
Here’s a clip of it from YouTube posted in 2014.
Recently I was on the “Tell Us a Good Story” podcast with Kevin and Stephanie Mason. I encourage you to listen and have some thoughts about its’ popularity.

Tonight on the way home from a trip, I passed by the corporate headquarters for an insurance company here in Columbus. SafeAuto is a pioneer in state minimum insurance. Their only point of business is providing minimum auto insurance coverage, and they have made a successful business of it in 16 states, mostly east of the Mississippi.
At the same time, I had just finished listening to a sermon by Pastor Gary Keesee from Faith Life Church in New Albany, Ohio regarding the Good Samaritan. While I have heard sermons on the subject of being a good neighbor (Hey! That’s another insurance company’s slogan!), I had never heard one particular point brought out. And that was, “Why did Jesus mention the inn and paying the innkeeper?” Continue reading Beyond Minimum Coverage
In the 35 years that I have been in and around the business, we have grown so much. Recently, I have been listening to Classic Christian 24/7, an online station, featuring artist from early Imperials to Twila Paris and Joe English. While their message was great, the production quality today is so much greater than it was then.
In my travels, I have heard Christian Radio stations in about 45 states. Many of them do a good job, but I think there is a danger lurking, and it’s not production quality. We are in danger of becoming narcissists. Continue reading Abundant Broadcasters
